Lakota Creations Native American Indian Art Gallery

In late 1998, Janet Callahan had a vision. She would build an on-line place that showcased Native American art and craft pieces, like those she and her mother made. Being somewhat idealistic, she believed that many people would flock to her site, and purchase the many beautiful items she and other artists would post.

But by the end of 2002, Janet had realized there were many problems with this idea. Although her site was well-listed on search engines, and had a fair amount of name recognition, there weren't many sales. Those that did occur often involved custom work, and customers who didn't fully appreciate the time involved in doing that work. Many people wanted to list their items on the site, but other portions of Janet's business were making much more progress than Lakota Creations was.

With those thoughts in mind, Janet decided that Lakota Creations should become a gallery - a place where people could show their work and talents, and where potential customers could learn about the work - it's history, and the people behind it. Lakota Creations would become a place where people who were interested in Native American artwork could connect with those doing the work.

Nothing here is specifically for sale - that is up to those who create these beautiful pieces. Many of the pieces you see will be custom pieces - if you want something like them, you'll need to give the artist time to create. Their prices are their own - we ask for nothing in return for their display.

Thank you for taking the time to visit Lakota Creations. We hope you've enjoyed looking at all the beautiful work here.

Sincerely, Janet and Barry Callahan
